Hello,
My Word program seems to be infected with the w97m.Satt.A virus. This has no adverse effects while I'm working, but it makes it difficult for me to send emails with Word attachments. (Gmail won't let me send the attachments at all, and when I send them through another account, recipients are often unable to open the files.) Based on advice I dug up through an internet search, I tried to delete my computer's "Normal" template, but I wasn't able to locate the right file. Would you please let me know how I can get rid of the virus?
Thanks!
Lara
You should be able to find your Normal template in your user folder. Look for the Documents folder, and then the Microsoft User Data folder. The file should be named Normal. Drag that to the trash.
Important: create a new Word document next. Close the document, and Quit Word. Find the newly created Normal file (in the same location). Get Info on the file, and click the Lock so the file is now locked. That will prevent the normal file from being re-infected the next time you open an older file that is still infected. Make sure that the Word/Preferences setting for Macro protection is turned on.
