Description:
Been trying to get at the Y2K hardware/software link at the Apple website without much success (read S L O W). Using OS 8.5. What do I need to do in order to be Y2K compliant - if anything? Would like to take precautions now. This is not urgent. THANK YOU!

Hi Justine,
Don't worry, all macs even back to the original mac are Y2k compliant. And most of the software out there is Y2k compliant. The best way to check is to open the "Date and Time" control panel and set your year to 2002 or anything before 2014 and if anything unusual starts happening with any of your programs, it may have a Y2K problem. One program that is known to not be Y2k compliant is Quicken for the mac and Quickbooks.

If you need any more info don't hesitate to email me or contact me on ICQ,
