Computer Type: Apple
Model: PowerMac 9500
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8

Description:
Q1. My wife and I have been using Quicken version 4.0 since our first computer--a Mac LCII. We moved up to a PowerMac 9500 to run our Quicken 4.0 and now I'm beginning to wonder if my version 4.0 of Quicken will be affected by the Y2K? Intuit seems hard to reach for answers.

Q2. We are also running Virex 5.6.8 on our PowerMac 9500 and I wondered how downloading all those virus definitions will help? What do I do with them? Do I drag them onto my Virex icon sitting inside my hard drive or how do I install them correctly?

Both my wife and I enjoy going to our local BORDERS bookstore and purchasing a copy each of MacHome and MacWorld, reading the magazines at a coffe table in full view of other customers before going home. We let others see just how much great coffee and super Mac info from your magazines we can down while there!

Hi Terrell and Jack,
Welcome to nowonder.com

Although I am not sure if Quicken 4.0 will be affected by the Y2k issue, there is a dangerous way of testing it. Go to your control panels and advance the calender to the year 2000. Next open up Quicken to see what it does. Peronaly I wouldn't do this with any serious records or my computer for that mattter. If you have another computer, set up a new copy of quicken and set up a fake account (a tester account) and see what happens.
Another thing you can try is going to this web site: http://www.intuit.com/support/updates/index.html this site has updates for their products.
Question 2: I haven't tried the new version of virex yet, the old one came with definitions as well, but they are there for your own info. I would suggest just biting the bullet and reading the readme and instructions that came with virex. Note: There are not many virus that can affect a mac. Especially if you have Mac OS system 8. This system allready takes care of most the viruses.
SEE! arent you glad you got an apple! We dont worry too much about Y2k or Viruses! In short, your mac is immune!!!! so smile! ;>
