i am a new mac user and have jsut downloaded yahoo messenger 2.3.5 it seems like a simplified version of teh one for windows.. no options for preferences or chat ...nothing that was usually in the top task bar... or no options to search for user names or options to view profiles...am i stuck with these limitations?

With Yahoo messenger yes. There are other program to use. Adium is a multi-chat program. You can customize the interface, etc. You should try that.
