Adium

I'm not familiar with all the IM clients out there so needless to say, I don't know anything about jabber. Can I chat with Jabber users through Adium? If so, do I need a Jabber account? If so, how do I get one. I tried some quick searching on the Web but didn't find anything too straight forward. thanks.

Don't get me wrong, I like Adium, I just can't install themes because it won't forget previous modifications to the appearence, so they overlap the themes. Hi, Im using a proxy to connect to the internet. The proxy requires a username and password. Using adium, i tried using http proxy, and systemwide proxy. both gave me a proxy error 502. In yahoo messenger, how can i configure it to use the same settings as my browser? Thanks in advanced!

I am using my institute's proxy server and can connect to yahoo using yahoo messenger. However, when I try to connect using Adium, it says that proxy server denies port 5050 tunneling. Why is this happening? Doesn't the yahoo messenger also connect using the same port? My proxy settings are the same as for yahoo messenger. Thank you, Paritosh
