Automator

Hey, I just made an incredibly useful Automator script, and then I had the idea; why not make a forum where we can all submit our home-made applications/scripts, and other materials?

My way uses Quicksilver. If you're not using it, I recommend it above ALL OTHER APPS. seriously great. anyway, if you're already familiar with Quicksilver, then you need to make sure you've got the beta enabled with development builds. in the plugins section, make sure you've got the File Attributes Actions installed. now, select whichever file you want to tag with...

in for Finder, iPhoto, etc ... and then you can right click an item in the Finder and choose Automator and then select the action. You can even save it for use with Folder Actions, so that it runs automatically when a folder's contents are changed. ...

For anyone else who's reading: select File -> Save as plug-in ... and a dialog will appear asking you which app you want the plug-in for - the workflow will then appear in that app's context menu under Automator.

Though it's not what I did, it is an interesting alternative you provide there. My workflow looke more like this: Request approval -> Get Finder Object (in my case the Desktop-folder) -> Get Finder object contents -> filter finder objects (in my case only files with the suffix .wdgt) -> Move objects Like I said, it works in Automator, but not as Application

days of QuicKeys. That app rocked and worked well with Applescrript, but when CE came out the OS X version the completely ruined a great thing. Automator is still falling short for me. I have to wonder what happened to all the great app designers at Apple. They are certainly not working on Pages either! ...
