I would try clearing all the Caches for the entire system. Use Yasu, Onyx, Cocktail, etc.

I am having trouble with Apple Mail. Lately it has asked me over and over for my gmail password for account. However, starting Monday Apple Mail crashes as soon as I open it. I ran the disk utility without any luck. I ran Mac OS Cocktail - no luck either. I also deleted the file: com.apple.mail.plist. That allowed me to open up Mail and set up all new preferences. It...

Hi, Hoping somewhere out there can help me out...recently my Powerbook G4 laptop (OS 10.3.9) has been acting up. Defragging Mac hard drive is not really needed; HFS+ does not get fragged in use. Just use Disk Utility (included in OS X) every now and then to check permissions. Cocktail and MacJanitor are two generic cleaners / fixer programs. If you don't use M$ Office, you are even macro virus free.

Obtain a copy of Cocktail. Use it to clean out all of the caches on the system and it should bring back your user accounts without having to move them. I have run into this at one time or another on all of the G5's that I manage.

Hi, I just updated QuickTime + iTunes on an iMacG5, restarted, and run Disk Utility when the problem started... I can't repair permissions. I get the message, somewhere halh way: "DiskUtility has lost it connection with the Disk Mnagement Tool, and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch DiskUtility", what I did as it said 2 times without any luck, restarted, again, etc...
