If you have the Norton Systemworks or Norton Utilities CD, you can boot from that and repair your drive (even though it is booting into 9). The latest version of systemworks also has diskwarrior recovery edition on it - diskwarrior repairs drives that Norton cannot. Alternately, if you have the Drive 10 bootable cd you can boot from that and also repair your drive.

Disk Utility didn't work. I ran DiskWarrior overnight and it is still running - over 12 hours! It is still on step 6 of 11 and says "Overlapped files detected: 17698". By the time I finish this email I'm sure it will be over 17700 files. It looks like I will have to re-install OS X from scratch, doesn't it? This is the second time with Jaguar updates. internal drive not be recognized . i've had it not detect a system, but never had it not see the drive as formatted. all my problems have been with externals and diskwarrior has a great ability to deal with this. you launch diskwarrior first, then plug in the drive and it recognises it and repairs it. ...

I'm running a bootleg of Diskwarrior problem is that it gets stuck on Step 6. This is killing me here. I think I learned my lesson.....if it's not broke don't switch to 9. ...
