FAXstf X - (How) does it work??
did you try updating to latest version of FaxSTF(10.1.3). Most opinions seem to agree that FaxSTF X sucks big time, at least I've never seen a post expressing pleasure about how great it is! Good faxing software I have heard is Page Sender. I have some good experience also with FaxCenter (used to be called Cocoa efax)

USB external modems are not supported with FaxSTF X, you must upgrade to FaxSTF X PRO, which is the commercial product. I will withhold my opinion of FaxSFT, you may have a good experience, some people do. There may be serial modem support with one of the other Fax software packages, such as Cocoa eFax (from MacAdvocacy.com), but I don't think so. Best option is a external...

I just downloaded and Installed both page sender and efax. efax looks better. easier to use, setup, and install..... pagesender took a bit more, and seems more complicated to use. But, i'll check em both out. I like faxSTF, but..... it needs work big time!

Fax software?
I needed to use the fax and loaded it up. Receiving was pretty easy and nice, but sending was a B!t(h... It look all compressed on the preview. I just couldn't trust the sending.. not to mention you have to have the fax # as part of the contact in Address. I'll have to look into the PageSender. Looks promising. kafene.

I have FaxSTF myself, hated it with a passion. I got it free with my iBook. I bought Cocoa Efax as a result which faxes whatever document you want as a .pdf. ...

Have you tried Page Sender? The people on versiontracker give it very high reviews. There is also Cocoa eFax. Sorry to say I have tried either of them.

Unable to receive fax from some fax machines
I have had this problem driving me nuts. I am unable to receive faxes from some machines. I send fine. I have tried Page Sender, FaxSTF and Cocoa eFax and it is the same with them all. Everything works fine from OS 9.2.2. so I guess it is not the internal fax. ...

Defrag in OS X?
hen people ask me what's so cool about OSX, one of the things at the top of my list is what oyu mentioned: small freeware/shareware apps that are Cocoa GUIs to UNIX applications. It owuld be great if apple provided these, but it would be better if they appeared as very affordable shareware or freeware. apps like Cocoa eFax, Mu Player, etc.

FaxSTF 10.0?
The bummer is that SmithMicro is charging for the OS X version of FAXSTF. It would be nice if Apple had made an arrangement with them to provide an update to Mac owners upgrading to OS X. The only thing I've found so far to fax with OS X is Cocoa EFax. kevin
