Eps

Nevermind... confused your problem with a different occurrence. Are these files created by you, or someone else that is sending them to you? Would it be an option to ask the person to "save down" the file in a previous version, or perhaps use a different format like EPS?

Thanks...it's not a font thing...we always convert fonts to outlines for this type of work. I'd believe that it could be an Adobe thing...but it would be nice to get 'em to admit to it... Hi dla Your issue is more likely to be issues in the Mac port of Illustrator 10 than with the EPS files themselves, UNLESS you have EPS files that are calling fonts, which may/will differ (kerning etc) if the exact same font isn't used on both platforms (often an unlicensed Truetype windows version will differ from it's Postscript brethren). How do you print eps files without buying a $400 rip program? I have an old ink jet printer and it can't print eps/vector images in high quality. Tried Gimp print and that doesn't seem to fix anything either. I'm running a G4 / Tiger / Epson Stylus Photo EX. Thanks!

Thanks very much for your response... I'm printing from Quark 6.5. The placed eps files are hi-res photoshop files (CMYK) as well as Illustrator vector files (also CMYK). No success with the PDF – the quality of the images looks precisely the same awful quality. Another reason I had thought it a postscript issue is because it printed beautifully when I sent the Quark file...
