VHS to Mac Update please

For getting analog video into your Mac, ElGato's stuff seems to be very popular, and the EyeTV 250 would probably suit your needs (and work as a TV tuner as well). As for getting video from a DVD onto your Mac, I use MacTheRipper and find it works 99% of the time. You can then use HandBrake to convert the DVD video to other formats.

Apple cinema 23" display as TV

i'm getting a 23 inch apple cinema display and since I'm getting into college this fall,i would like to be able to use my macbook in and out of the dorm room with my cinema display as extended or mirroring real estate for the laptop. I want to hook up my PS2 or XBox to my monitor

Well, I believe you can hook your game sytem up. But you'll have to get extra hardware. Look at www.elgato.com. The eyeTV 250 allows the PS2 or XBox signal to pass through to your computer and then to your monitor. They claim it will play back in real time. ...

Need like an A/V to DVI

Titanium G4 Powerbook 1GHZ Fan replacement

My trusty 15" 1GHZ Ti book Powerbook's fans have gone south over the last year or so. When they do come on, they are either terribly loud or annoyingly "whiney" and "buzzy" as if they are clogged with dust and hair or something, and in either case, they just don't cool the laptop very well any longer. When I play Halo or watch EyeTV (or play any demanding 3D game or high...

Firewire RAID woes

couple of months now with my Rev B iMac G5 20". It's quite a LOUD drive what with the constant fan running so I only power it up when I need to shift some of my eyeTV recordings off the Mac's main drive to free up space. ...

What do you think of MacMinis?

When the Minis first came out I thought they were cool, but never ever thought I would even consider buying one. But now I am saving for one. What changed me was Font Row and the DVI port. When I move into my new place I will use the mini as my media centre. It will also be useful for major video encodes so I don't tie up my main Mac. I also have an EyeTV, which enhances...
