IMac G5

good DTV receiver: eyetv 400. But this will be a darn expensive tv you want to get Well, if you consider that I recently saw a 19" LCD TV priced at 1199,00 € (and it was a limited-time offer)... I could say that they're giving me the G5 free!

Usb2 capture devices and osx compatibility? hauppauge DVR usb2

Hi parasew and welcome to the forum. I don't think your hauppauge will work on the mac (or does it say it is mac compatible?). Unfortunately I am not familiar with such devices and don't know if this is a useful hint, but google for "eyetv". This is a mac compatible box that has several models which might suit your needs. Good luck!

Apple - two words to consider: "Home Automation"

My biggest problem with eyeTV is that it's gonna be using my processor cycles recording the TV show whilst I'm trying to work (why else would I want to record something - me have a life beyond my mac - unthinkable ;)). **Warning - rambling stream of consciousness** ;) I'd prefer it to do the recording - eyeHome could then aggregate the media content for me - From my Mac,...

Apple - two words to consider: "Home Automation"

PVR = Personal Video Recorder, right? Yea, I can see they still need to do a little work on that side - eyeTV. At first I'm not sure I needed that, but the more I think about it, what the heck! I'm also curious about a few things with it. For example, it reads from particular directories (like Movies), so I'm wondering if it will recognize/work with symbolic links to...

Apple - two words to consider: "Home Automation"

Monkey Magic - this is PERFECT! Thank you, thank you, thank you! How did you find out about this? I think you saved me from exploring wireless PDA controllers and writing lots of Applescripts! It seems like eyehome "internet services" would take care of the radio listening via some simple bookmarks and bring up the radio audio (WMP or Real...) from the computer which, if...

Splitting Video Files for VCD's

I do this a lot with MPEGs recorded from my EyeTV, but the program I use (mpgtx) won't work for AVIs. I found one on www.macupdate.com that is for AVI files. It is called "Explicit 1.0" - just click the link for MacUpdate above and do a search for it. I've never used it before but the description says "Explicit is a simple Cocoa program for splitting AVI (DivX, XviD etc.)...
