Flip4Mac doesn't work on .asf files. I'd go ahead and keep my Windows Media Player for those files.

Flip4Mac and QT Pro won't help. They do video. If you want free, take those WMAs to a peecee with iTunes, then burn to CD. That'll put them in AIFF format, from which you can convert to any other Mac-friendly format. Otherwise, it's at least $10 (EasyWMA, Sound Converter). More $ will get more horsepower. I'm fond of Switch.

I've read a previous thread on converting wma to mp3 and have tried the solutions (flip4mac, qt pro, easywma, switch). I am still looking for a free solution. Is there one? Sorry if this is a FAQ but appreciate any help.

I just found a easy solution for this. It's called 'Switch', it's free, and you can download it here: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/plus.html It will prompt you to install Flip4Mac (also free) from Microsoft. Worked fine for me.

Why do you need to use Flip4Mac. Login with your favorite browser and listen now. That's all I do.

As Linux user you should now about the QuickTime video "Swiss Army Knife" of video plugins called Perian. Also take a look at Flip4Mac.
