I haven't really ever run into that issue, at least not with streaming video. What site is it? Maybe we can determine an alternative. After all, you can get Real, Quicktime and WMV for your Mac. By the way, Google for "flip4mac" It's a Quicktime plugin that lets you watch some popular Windows video formats using Quicktime. It seems to work great and it's free. Doug

It's an odd kind of a problem. Everything works but the Desktop and as I said the other user accounts were fine. It can't be a big problem, just elusive. I could negotiate via the finder but I couldn't drag anything to the Desktop. The Desktop folder still exists. Same for you? It happened to me when I was messing around uninstalling and reinstalling Flip4Mac.

No. Not currently. WMV3 is not supported in .avi files on the Mac. Not in VLC, not with the Flip4Mac plugin and not with MS' Windows Media Player. You'll need a PC to play this file. ...

Hold down option while emptying the Trash and see if that gets rid of the files. Don't bother with WMP 9 for the Mac as Microsoft has stopped development on it. Instead, download Flip4Mac.
