ft has licensed Flip4Mac, a Quicktime plugin, for playing Windows Media files. Like WMP 9, it plays WM files just fine, unless they're DRM'd. Usually, if neither Flip4Mac nor VLC can play a file, you won't play it without running Windows. ...

Yes, the DVD icon appears on the desktop and it seems to act just like a DVD. The files on my PC come out at MPEG or MPEG-4.. I know it is a MPEG for a fact though. I haven't heard of VLC.. I have tried flip4mac, real one, quick time, Divx, and iTunes. iTunes won't let me import ANY movie into it, even if it's from the internet. Im not sure why...probably copyright...

Download and install Flip4Mac. Even if it doesn't help you with this specific situation, it's a much better implementation than Windows Media Player: http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm Second, you might need to install other video components into QuickTime like DivX for example: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/qt/components/

You media files are probably not WMV files. The Windows version of Windows Media Player can play a wide array of media formats. The QuickTime Player can also play those files out-of-the-box. You may use the QT Player to show their file type. You may then add the appropriate extension so that your files display with the proper icon.

Tried what you suggest--no change. I can still play the files with Quicktime, but they appear as UNIX files, with no extension, etc. Also, I do not think I have Flip4mac...I searched the computer, using the search function, and looked in the Aplication and Utilities folder...no Flip4Mac. Well, at the end of the day, the movies play. It's just frusterating that they...
