one more thing. When my wife installed the fonts, it was done via a CD she burned. Font book said several fonts were damaged, etc and did not install them...OK good. ...

Wow! I just imported 6000 fonts and it's speedy as hell - the same can't be said for Font Book (or Suitcase). It did crash when I removed to of my fonts that got landed in ~/Library/Fonts and were active, but since then it's been behaving amazingly well. I'll post back how it's holding up in Leopard. I had repaired permissions recently, so I skipped that.

Thanks for the advice. I ditched Suitcase some time ago and actually discovered that in Font book it's now possible to create libraries which aren't moved/copied to your fonts folder but just left where they are. I also removed tons of system fonts (andale mono? Apple gothic? wo needs this stuff?). I hate how it basically activates everything you import though. What a setting....

Hi Mario8672 The red x circle works fine on my Mail (2Ghz G5 iMac, Leopard). I am however finding a weird conflict between FontAgentPro and auto font activation via Apple's Font Book - something I need to delve into a little more deeply. I am also having a 'Get Info' glitch with Photoshop CS1 and Photoshop CS3. I have CS1 and the demo of CS3 which expires soon...

You said you didn't know what else to do :) It's usually corrupt Fonts, Caches or Preference files when a problem shows up only in one account. Validate your Fonts. Font Book > All Fonts > choose one then Command + A to choose all > File menu > Validate Fonts. Use a maintenance tool like Onyx to clear System and User Caches.

I've read that when a problem arises in a users account and does not show up in another, then there is something wrong with that users account that's experiencing the problem. It's usually corrupted Fonts, Caches and/or Preference files that is the culprit. Validate the Fonts.
