For those who are having trouble, it could be due to bad memory. That's the only thing I can think off that could cause the kind of trouble that people are seeing. And if you want to do it in batch mode at the command line (if GraphicConverter can't do that), shoot me an email. A buddy of mine has some perl scripts that do it. He had to write them because his digicam kept losing the current date and a lot of his pics were misdated.

The same stands for any file. The .jpg file icon is created when the file is created. If it is created without its icon (wihout resources as would say "GraphicConverter", in memory of the old OS9), then the icon is not created by the Finder.
