Swithing to Mac and OSX - is it worth it for me?

The tasks that you want to accomplish can be best performed on the Mac, for the most part. You need to think about your end product rather than the specific applications used to produce your product. You have some preconceived ideas that you need to reverse if you make the switch. Use standards-based HTML editors rather than Microsoft products. No commercial software title...

Photo Edition - Any app. like MS Photo Editor?

I tend to use ToyViewer for most basic image editing stuff that doesn't require Photoshop's horse power. Unlike GraphicConverter, ToyViewer is free. Unlike Gimp, ToyViewer is Mac OS X native (predates just about all other image apps in Mac OS X except TIFFany). If you have to spend money, Photoshop Elements would be my first recommendation. Oddly, this isn't the first...

Draging photos into Word

You need to convert the photo (probably in JPEG format) into PICT. Then you can drag your image into a Word document. GraphicConverter will do this for you.

Photo editing

This question gets asked and answered a LOT. iPhoto has more editing functionality that most users will ever use. If you want more, I strongly recommend GraphicConverter, which Apple bundles with its professional computers. It is something of a cheap-skate's Photoshop even accepting Photoshop plug-ins. If you prefer an Adobe product, there is Photoshop Elements. However, PSE...

Freeware Icon creator for osx

URGENT: Software advise needed for graphic design

Hmmm...I don't remember mentioning anything about worrying about costs?? We are worried about finding an app that will do what we need. Maybe I should have mentioned that money isn't an issue. :-) Correct. That is exactly why we want a standard application because we don't want any more custom made crap. However, Word and PowerPoint will NOT work for our needs...that I...

URGENT: Software advise needed for graphic design

You are trying to replace a $5000 dongle and are worrying about a piece of software that comes in at less than $1000? Get serious! As for software, screen printers today use standard graphics applications. Photoshop and Illustrator will certainly do the job. So too will AppleWorks, GraphicConverter, or Print Shop. Heck, you can use Word or PowerPoint. The software you use...
