I have tried in Terminal, XTerm, and iTerm - none of them allow me to type 'e' or the character I type immediately after e. I am running OS X 10.4.4 on a 20" iMac G5 2.0 GHz. No, you need X11 only to run X11 -programs. Other (console) programs work just fine on Terminal.app (I use ITerm.app, but that is another story).

I'm a Unix guy. I want it to work so as when I download a file to my Home, it shows up on my desktop. When I download a file to my desktop, I want it to be listed when I ls /Users/anderas in iTerm, so I can manipulate the file fast from both the command line and Finder. Aliasing each folder from my home to my Desktop would not create that effect!

I tried messing around with the Connect To Server section in Terminal and the only thing I could get it to do was select the name I would log in with and the hostname. If anybody knows anyway that I can make it so I can log in without having to type my hard to remember password each time in Terminal (besides using iTerm) I'd appreciate it.
