Pet peeves and more

Windows... it's million ways of not being effective to use and making you wonder what kind of monkeys thought about the usability. Poorly written bugs. Bugs that don't get fixed in years. Poorly dealt bugs. Powerpoint files. Not just as unrequested mail attachments but in most every use. (Just use html and quicktime/keynote mkay?) Flash and browsers that don't allow to...

Problem with iWork '08 and Tiger

Hello all. I seem to be having trouble with iWork '08 and Tiger (10.4.11). I have a PowerMac G4 (Sawtooth) upgraded with a 1.2GHz G4 from OWC (Mercury Extreme). It has 1GB RAM, 120GB HD and the original Rage 128 AGP card (16MB). I have installed iWork'08 and when I try to launch any of the apps, the machine just freezes? I can't even "Force Quit" the application. ...

DVI or RGB

Yeah, I know it has mini-DVI. I've purchased both adapters so that I can use either. I use the presentations in a church. My MacBook sits about 25 feet from the projector. I have a 30 foot DVI cable and a 50 foot RGB cable. The first time I used the DVI cable, the screen went all funky while playing a video (imbedded in my Keynote). I caught it during setup and was able to...

Very disappointing IChat - bait and switch

Actually I remember hearing quite a bit during pre-release time about Intel-only features in Leopard (particularly these filters), not to mention it was mentioned during a keynote. They also posted it in the MacOSX specs section (under iChat Requirements and under the Photobooth header), as well as with a full details link under iChat requirements. Sounds like you should...

Upgrade from Powerbook to MacBook Pro

I'm about to upgrade from a 1.5 GHz Powerbook with 2G ram to a 2.2 GHz Macbook Pro with 2G ram. I am going to include a 160 rather than 120 HD. Am I going to be blown away, impressed or just satisfied? Any suggestions. I am not a heavy movie editor or gamer but do some Photoshop/Canvas, light number crunching (Excel), Lots of Keynote/powerpoint but few with embedded movies....

Word Processors for Mac!

A file sent in hte hideous MS xml format... "just install MS Office". Oh, great. It's just about as polite as sending a keynote file saved as .keynote, or a .pages document in iWork 08 format, when you don't know whether the receiver has iWork 08 or the newest MS Office installed. ...

What do you wish Leopard would have?

Office 2008 announcement

The sad part is, all I need is Word just for compatibility reasons. Keynote is far superior to Power point. Excel is good, I rarely use a spreadsheet, and when I do, I reach now for Numbers. Entourage, never use. ...
