To be able to use Boot Camp officially, you need to be running Leopard. I don't think you can get the final version of Boot Camp to run on anything less.

If you have Leopard, I think X11.app is installed by default. IF it's anything older (Jaguar, Panther, Tiger), then you can install it from the installation disc for your Mac.

Leopard problems after install/upgrade

The version of the Virtual PC application installed is probably not compatible with Leopard, but i am not sure that by itself would cause a kernel panic. If you do not need it, delete the Virtual PC application and see if that resolves the problem.
