I just attempted to install xp on my new macbook pro. I used the bootcamp app and i got as far as using the xp disk to install windows and go through the windows setup while booted from the xp disk. Unfortunately i dont think the disk i used was servicepack 2. I finished the installation and my computer automatically rebooted. When it restarted it says press any key too boot...

?? I thought you were going back to Tiger from Leopard? If you have VPC working now, why would you now retreat to Tiger? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it !"

This depends. It is not possible to downgrade to an OS that is older than the one that shipped on your Mac. If your Mac shipped with Leopard, then you cannot downgrade to Tiger. If you have an Intel Mac that shipped with Tiger, then you must use your System Restore disc to downgrade your OS to Tiger.

getting close, I tried it out and it says that Virtual PC isn't installed so I can't put in VPC 7. Can anyone tell me or have a link to where I can get the original one... I'm guessing if I get that I'll be fine.

did that. I'm thinking it's my fault. I tried to downgrade on the OS, given that, now when I start up I get the question mark for for a quick second and then the OS starts to load. Before it was taking a long time to load the OS, but now after deleting several Final Cut captures I'm sort of back to normal. I'm going to just reboot. I'm a little angry, but at least I learned...

unfortunately not. Mac OS only allows you to upgrade, not downgrade. to go backwards, you need to do a clean install (wipe and start over) or an archive install (archiving your previous installation in a separate folder before installing a new one).
