G3 value question

$800 for a 300 mHz Mac seems high. Here are some options: For about $1000 to $1100 you can get an iBook (consumer notebook) with good, fast graphics and decent (700 mHz) processor speed. It has a 12.1 inch screen and a vga port (via adapter) should you wish to plug it in to a larger monitor. Or for about the same amount, you can get an eMac, a consumer all-in-one Mac...

IBook G4?

my power supply hasn't worked well since the day I bought it. I have to fiddle with the part that plugs into the side of the notebook to get it to charge. Even after it does charge it often twists a bit and stops charging. Apple has improved the connectors in later models of the iBook. ...

Geeks vs. computer users

You have a notebook? You need wireless. Chat from where you ARE in your apartment or house. I LOVE chatting in front of my house in summer... Wish it were summer again... :)

Time to Blast Apple

wouldn't continue buying Apple products for a long time to come. Now that this Apple customer is terribly displeased, he will likely sell his iBook and buy a PC notebook the first chance he gets. Apple is now out a lot more money in the long run. This is exactly what Apple needs to avoid during an economic down turn. ...

The answer to the Tablet PC

The leaves the slates. They are still full laptops, and have detachable keyboards. HP has a slate that looks like a standard laptop when the keyboard is connected, and a slate when not. http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/tabletpc/ Electrovaya's slate has 8 -16 hrs battery life. http://www.electrovaya.com/scribbler.html Not a slate, but the Acer TPC is 3lbs....

The answer to the Tablet PC

Nope, of course I'm not. But the 'convertibles' are a bit too heavy, I think, to be really useful. Also their battery life isn't exactly overwhelming.

Why Choose Mac

I agree with all the sentiments expressed here. I've had a positive experience with my iBook ever since they fixed the CD-ROM and sent me X.2. I actually want to sell my PC so that I can buy a printer that explicitly works for Mac (I can use my Samsung ML-4500 but only through a router) and an iPod. Basically, I'm hooked on Apple despite the fact that it's so darned expensive....
