I picked up a PowerBook 12" about a month ago and I love it. I have a strong *nix background so I'm right at home in OS X. I had a 14" iBook to play with for about a week before I made my purchase. While I did like the iBook, I decided to go for the PB 12" for these main reasons: o G4 processor vs G3 processor o Airport Extreme (802.11g) vs Airport (802.11b). o PB 12"...

I've got only the apps I use daily in my doc: Finder, iCal, Eudora, Safari, Camino, TeXShop, Start OpenOffice, OmniGraffle, iTunes, System Preferences, Terminal, X11, FinkCommander and then links & folders for the Desktop, Applications and the Trash. Doc's set to be quite small. My desktop however tends to get quite cluttered with downloads & folder & icons. I have to tidy...

OW and webcore - very interesting! Seeing as I can't get the sneaky peak (haven't stumped up any cash) can someone post a screenshot with a nice looking site making use of the new webcore stuff please? While doing research on making restore images for Mac OS X, I decided to take a look at how Apple is currently doing it. Our dept. just got some of the new 12" PB in so I poked around some and came up with some interesting results. edit: I can't turn off HTML code in my post, so it tries to interpret the XML  Basically, the way the disc works, you boot off of...

We haven't done this in a while and I find it's a good way to be exposed to new software that I wouldn't have ever found otherwise. So, what are your 5 (or less) favorite shareware/freeware apps? Please give us a little description and a link. I'll start: Acquisition It's gotta be the best P2P client out for the Mac. MacPublisher Pro A simple, yet quite functional...

I have been doing my screen shots with snapzpro & am still struggling a little to make it feel like a natural habit. I wanted to speak, however, to the advantages of capturing screens as pdf vs. the traditional (old school?) jpg or tiff. Many of the programs re-written for OsX now allow for not only exporting, or printing as, pdf, but also allow for importing and placing...
