does require you to reboot your Mac from Mac OS X to Windows in order to use Windows applications. But performance is better than that of running Windows within Parallels or Fusion. ...

The "more expensive" thing is kind of an illusion -- it's just that Apple doesn't offer any ultra low-end Macs, whereas you can build a cheap PC for $300 or so. Feature-for-feature, though, they're pretty much on-par with each other in terms of price. Well, I'm not against Windows -- I'm all for purchasing the computer that will work for you. If you spend a lot of time in...

I know, but I'll end up spending most of my time in windows, which kind of defeats the point of buying an iMac in the first place? Especially since it's more expensive than a generic windows box and not easily upgradeable too. And if i dual boot too many times the licensing breaks... I mean, I really don't wish to deal with windows anymore, but unless someone tells me that...

Thanks for the reply. I know boot camp is better, but I'm just wondering how much I can get away with in parallels/fusion. Besides, constant rebooting between os x and windows might cause the licensing to break... So, anyone tried before and can give me some rough guidelines as to what I can expect? :)

Hola Senor ElDiablo ;^) Thank you for your firm belief that either will allow ActiveX controls to work. I am in a similar situation to "sgould" . . . My situation also involves needing to connect to Windows Small Business Server 2003. At the moment, I'm borrowing an Acer Aspire running Vista Home Pro, and using IE. The first step is to login to a Remote Workplace web...

Why would you use BootCamp at all if you have Fusion or Parallels? I run Leopard, XP Pro, Fedora, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Suse, Mandriva and Debian Linux with no Boot Camp anywhere but in the bit bucket. I'm doing electronic simulations on XP Pro and it doesn't slow down or even cough a little. If there's a speed problem I surely don't see it, but then again, I don't play games.

MacPro dualie, 5G ram (Rember checked OK) 10.5.1, installed directly w/o SU. Recently I've been having problems shutting down. Usually the symptoms are menu bar and mouse pointer go away, gear spins endlessly. Doesn't happen every time ... yet. Use to be shut down occurred in 10-15 secs. No new apps. Kind of creeped up. This from Console/System log at the time of last...
