Not necessarily a mistake but I just thought that I only access shares from other computers and figured that if you were logged into the Windows Partition, then you would simply use Windows Explorer to get around. It's actually good enough for my needs, just that when I'm working in Max, I keep pressing the mac shortcut keys and Mac OS X keeps interrupting. Any way to make parallels capture all your keystrokes and prevent Mac OS from interrupting? ...

And, you can, of course, install Windows on your new Mac through the included Boot Camp utility, or use one of the virtualization solutions, such as Parallels Desktop, or VMWare Fusion. So, you can work both sides! ...

I like Parallels, but have also been satisfied with Sun's VirtualBox (which is free!) for running Windows XP in a virtualized environment. I wouldn't mess with BootCamp because I don't like the idea of carving out a portion of my hard drive meant solely for XP, although some people do like it because XP runs faster natively than it does through virtualization.

Hello, So I'm a prodigal Mac user that returned after leaving the Mac in the late 90s due to its relatively poor stability. But currently I believe that unless you have your own IT dept at home, you should have a Mac. My impressions so far are that Mac OS X Leopard can't be beat for stability, horsepower, and a great consumer UI. Anyway... to my topic. I told myself...

Under Parallels, the current versions of their VM tools aren't compatible with the latest Ubuntu release (8.04?). Could it possibly be the same for VMWare's tools? http://blog.wired.com/monkeybites/2008/05/virtualization.html

You'd need to purchase a retail or OEM copy of Windows for the virtual machine in Parallels. Any other way would be against the board rules here. Make sure that it's at least Service Pack 2 if it's going to be Windows XP.

I can print only on the Windows side running in Parallels. On the MAC side, I hear the printer respond, but print status message says "sending data", then in the utility, there is a error message "printer busy"
