DVD Studio Pro is not a program for taking .VOB files and compressing them to fit on a standard 4.7GB DVD-R disk. So far, there is no free Mac software for compressing .VOB files down to fit on a single-layer DVD-R disk. You must spring for Toast 7, Popcorn, DVD2One X or some other video DVD compressing application.

No free app I'm afraid. DVD shrink is great, and these days is about the only reason why I use my PC. Anyway, the only DVD-Shrink-like app I'm aware of is Fast DVD Copy. I've used it and it is a really excellent program, but at $99 USA it is an absolute rip-off. That is too much for such a (relatively) simple utility -- especially seeing as there are a couple of freeware...

Or are you trying to burn a data DVD (a backup, for example) and want to compress the files to fit on a single-layer 4.7GB DVD? If the former, check out DVD2One, Popcorn, and FastDVDCopy, all...

There are three steps to copying a commercial DVD: rip - to remove copy protection, compress as needed to bring the file to the capacity of your DVD-R, and burning. You missed step 1 and duplicated steps 2-3. Popcorn compresses and burns all by itself. DVD2OneX (v2) now has built-in burning in addition to compression. Ripping can be done via several programs, the...

I purchased DVD2OneX2 to copy them and Toast 6 Titanium to burn them. Everytime I click to copy the disc in Toast it shuts down unexpectedly. So I downloaded Popcorn because I heard that works well, but I have the same problem, it simply shuts down when I click to copy. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me? ...
