Very odd! Before you dismantled the MacBook, did you look what the settings were in: System Preferences ~> Energy Saver ~> Sleep? If you are using Bookmarks to visit Hotmail etc, remove them and visit the page say, by using Google or similar. Then if the page loads correctly, add it as a new bookmard.
