Tiger ran OK on my iBook with 500 of RAM. I've upped that to 1GB. Difference in speed for the general home use is not great. Also runs well on the desktop Quicksilver - 933MHz and 1GB Ram (was 500 too) - again not a huge speed increase. You should be fine!
