You are leaving the subject boy's ;) I think I will just switch the HD's between the G3 to the G4 and see if it starts, and then just wait seven days more to install Panther ontop and maybe that will fix some compatible problems :/ Any objections? :) By the way, is the RAM the same for G3/400 B&W and he G4 Quicksilver?

Perhaps my last query in this thread: Is it worth initializing a HD? (And how does one do so? I have done it in the past, on an ancient Performa, but cannot seem to find an "initialize" command now.) Tjao! I will now change my G3/400 B&W to a G4 Quicksilver! Both with system 10.2.8. Now: On the G3 I have sendmail and lots of settings, prefs and apps etc. that I would like to transfer to the G4 so I don't have to do everyting again. How and CAN I do that in a simple way? /Matsaki

No problems here… Captain Code - I haven't seen or heard of any users having issues with the GeForece 2MX that originally shipped with their Mac. Most of the reports I've seen were users who, like yourself, either flashed an off the shelf product -or- placed a Mac OEM card from, say a Quicksilver, in their older G4. I'll have to try to get my hands on a box that actually...

I have a quicksilver G4 -- I can't imagine the G5 being any louder...

I want to put a nice new hard drive in my quicksilver 733 (from July 01). What is the absolute best hard drive out there that I could put in it? Not necessarily the biggest, I'm talking like best brand/seek time/reliable HD about there. Right now my guess is IBM Deskstar, but I'm not sure if all of them or the new ones mainly are compatible with my system. Thanks for feedback....

Thanks for the feedback. That whole 4 times the price thing is what was getting me. My wife would kill me if I bought another NEW Mac before the Dual is paid. I don't think the speed thing is going to be a major headache for me, I still have my QuickSilver. It's going in my brothers apt where we are building a music studio. The only thing I'll ever use it for is running...
