Quicktime

One of my users is experiencing Mail crashes on an infrequent but consistent basis. Here's the details: iMac CoreDuo running OS 10.4.8 Crashes 1-2 times per day, no particular time of day. Usually happens while scrolling through messages, but not always. Of 8 programs that run all day, Mail is the only one that crashes. What I've done:

hi i have .mod files and i changed the file name to .mov. so now it shows it on the VLC player(not quicktime) so i am trying to make these files to a movie. but when i tried to import these files to Imovie HD, it won't work. what should i do? should i convert the MOD files to mov files instead of just changing the file neames.. i regret getting a macbook..
