I love the make sticky note service, but always have a problem with it. Unless I launch the stickies program in OSX before I use the service, whenever I try to use it the computer uses the stickies program in OS9... ...

I agree, you should try to minimize the things that open at startup, especially since there are a lot of things that put things in the Login items without your knowledge (FruitMenu, WindowShade X, etc.). But what is this "classic" you speak of? :D

I cut down startup time by having the minimum of apps open at startup. There is still a delay as the demon of caca mentioned but just removing stickies and two or three other apps I had set to load at startup sped things up noticeably. I can only imagine if you have classic set to run. ...

Isn't that the one that "rolls up" the window into only showing the title bar ala OS 9 and Stickies? That's not what I'm looking for... I want it to go away completly and leave no trace on the dock (except for it's running App icon) like using the "Command H" key combo. :P Too danged lazy to hit the key combo! ;)
