I've got this same problem. I've updated to 10.4.1 and I still have the same problem. I can't load a project (not even the tutorial projects) and I can't open a new project. This is really frustrating as I've a project coming up next week where I'd pitched it heavily on the titles and graphics based on using Motion. Has anyone got any ideas? OSX 10.4.1 dual G5 2 GHz
