Well to make QuickTime play most all media files take a look at the free Perian plugin and for non-DRM Windows Media files take a look at Flip4Mac. Now I hope you know about VLC. On a side note for web radio streaming I personally use FStream because it is small and stays out of the way.

It really depends if you have a modern Mac. I assume you already knew about the QuickTime Plugins Perian and Flip4Mac. Quicktime Pro is one way to do that, but that will cost you $30. You already have your Quicktime software. All you need to do is purchase the Pro license. Most do it with other software. iSquint is good, and free, too! http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28250
