because of what i understand, bootcamp installs windows but you must log off from osx to get into windows, so I looked up for a VmWare Virtual Machine for Mac OSX which does not exist, and i'm not sure about VirtualPC... so I'd like to read your opinions. ...

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath on VMWare for the Mac, but it's another option. For now, Parallels is great and probably will continue to be so. ...

Well: We don't have to wait for VMware to _finally_ come around, since Parallels has nailed virtualization for the Mac in my opinion. It's been working with various OSs for quite some time now. Good stuff, so I understand hexstar's happiness about it very well. It's just not _news_ anymore exactly. ;)

Now, if you ran Windows on Parallels and then in the Windows environment have VMware running Linux and then from within the Linux VM have QEMU running another x86 operating system..... ...

Yes. The difference there is that BootCamp requires Windows XP SP2 or later, whereas Parallels (and I think VMWare) can run any version of Windows going back to 3.1.

Thanks for that, As far as I know, the uni only has spss14 at the moment and spss11 for mac. If I got bootcamp or VMWare, do I need to run windows as well? I downloaded the trial version of parallels, but I need to run windows, so I'm going to trash it.

SPSS 13.0, the latest Mac version of the app, is PPC-Mac native but is unreliable on Intel-based Macs. Intel-based Macs cannot run Windows software natively within MacOS X. To run SPSS 15.0 for Windows on an Intel-based Mac, you will need Parallels Workstation, VMWare, or Boot Camp.
