Whats VNC? I can control the XP desktop. But logging on to the XP pc from my iMac logs of user on the XP pc off. I want to be able to stay logged in on the pc while viewing the desktop of the xp pc on my iMac.

Call me stupid, but what you're saying doesn't make any sense to me. You want to have a duplicate desktop on top of the original? Or are you doing this for network use? Please explain in more detail As for a VNC Viewer, it doesn't see another desktop, it sees the original/normal desktop when you connect.

'is someone/-thing trying to hack my machine?' - no. '... is it actually MY VNCserver that's connecting?' - to verify, look into the 'Preferences' settings of your VNC server and / or Peer to Peer (if you use such) software.

I've tried this using the reset button to cause a boot to optical drive but I still don't see it. I am also unable to get my monitor to show any signal (this is using three adaptors though - mini vga to vga to dvi). I don't see it in the Server Assistant. I did see it using a VNC (Chicken). But now I don't after I tried to connect to it using this. It gave me an error about IP...
