I had the same problem & got it down to two extensions. Action Gomac & VNC Server. Other people have apparantly had problems with USB overdrive but it works fine for me. Try disabling all non core extensions & then re-enabling them one at a time. It's a long task but worth it as classic is great once its up & running.
