Vonage

VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) requires connection fees to traditional phone systems. Blame the phone man, not the VOIP guys. As you know, VOIP need high speed internet connections. I personally decided (I am in the States) on Vonage. I got it before Skype came online and like the idea that I can dial 911 from it. Also I can call many countries for free on the $24.99...

Well the only way you could I could think of is use the expensive PhoneValet. Now if you live in North america I just saw the very interesting Vontage V-phone. I am not sure if it is Mac compatible, but it does look interesting.

You can buy a Linksys Wireless adapter for the Xbox (works with all systems ps2, xbox etc) and get a wireless router for $30 avg anywhere. Mine never looses connectivity. i have a DLINK G band router, Vonage, XBOX360, PS3, A Mini, Macbook, and a dell laptop and Tivo all hooked up with max bandwidth usage. still no problems...yet. Vonage is the culprit here... I would put a hub/switch between ....so cable modem --> hub --- vonage |->mac |->NAS device Vonage will appropriate as much pipe as it thinks it needs slowing the rest of your network. with a hub (I recommend a switch) your ftp speeds and everything else will improve.
