A program which lets you dial ordinairy phones from your mac for free

VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) requires connection fees to traditional phone systems. Blame the phone man, not the VOIP guys. As you know, VOIP need high speed internet connections. I personally decided (I am in the States) on Vonage. I got it before Skype came online and like the idea that I can dial 911 from it. Also I can call many countries for free on the $24.99...

Xbox to Mac via Airport

You can buy a Linksys Wireless adapter for the Xbox (works with all systems ps2, xbox etc) and get a wireless router for $30 avg anywhere. I feel rather foolish asking this, but I've tried everything I could think of at this point. I'm a newbie to Macintosh, but am fairly UNIX savvy. I recently purchased an iBook G4 (OSX 10.3.9) and Powerbook G4 (OSX 10.4.7). My network is a SA Webstar Cable modem connected to a Linksys RT31P2 router (for Vonage) which is connected to a Belkin Wireless 54G access point. All...

NAS SAMBA Slow and crashes airtunes

Vonage is the culprit here... I would put a hub/switch between ....so cable modem --> hub --- vonage |->mac |->NAS device Vonage will appropriate as much pipe as it thinks it needs slowing the rest of your network. with a hub (I recommend a switch) your ftp speeds and everything else will improve.
